While we are located in southern Wisconsin, many of our puppy families come from Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, Minneapolis, and throughout Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and Iowa. We also have puppies across the US! We are always happy to talk with families who are looking for a Portuguese Water Dog or Lagotto Romagnolo and help them decide if one of these wonderful breeds is the right fit for their home.

The Lagotto Romagnolo

he Lagotto Romagnolo is an ancient Italian breed best known as the world’s premier truffle hunting dog. Originally developed in the marshlands of the Romagna region of Italy, Lagotti were first used as water retrievers before their extraordinary noses led them to become specialists in locating truffles underground.

Lagotti are intelligent, affectionate, and highly devoted to their families. They tend to form strong bonds with their people and thrive in homes where they can be involved in daily life. Their natural curiosity and eagerness to learn make them wonderful partners for training, scent work, and a variety of dog sports.

Their dense, curly coat is low-shedding and protective, though it does require regular grooming to keep it healthy and properly maintained.

As a Lagotto Romagnolo breeder in Wisconsin, our goal is to preserve the breed’s excellent temperament, health, structure, and working ability while raising well-socialized puppies that will become wonderful companions and capable working dogs.

The Portuguese Water Dog

The Portuguese Water Dog is an intelligent, athletic working breed originally developed along the coast of Portugal. These versatile dogs worked alongside fishermen, helping herd fish into nets, retrieve lost tackle, and carry messages between boats and shore. Their history as hardworking partners created the confident, energetic, and highly trainable dogs we know today.

Portuguese Water Dogs are known for their loyal nature and strong bonds with their families. They thrive in active homes where they can participate in daily life and enjoy activities such as swimming, hiking, training, and dog sports. Their problem-solving ability and eagerness to work make them especially rewarding for owners who enjoy training and engaging with their dogs.

Their curly or wavy coat is low-shedding, which is one reason the breed has become popular with many families, though regular grooming is required to keep the coat healthy.

As a Portuguese Water Dog breeder in Wisconsin, our goal is to raise healthy, well-socialized puppies that reflect the temperament, structure, and working ability that make this breed so special.

Raising puppies is a family event, in our home with love and attention. We devote our time to making sure they are mentally and physically healthy and happy. We want to set you both up for the best success.
