Our Family

We are an energetic and busy family of five (with three PWDs!).   We have had many dogs in our lives and have fallen in love with the Portuguese Water Dogs.  Living in the rolling hills of Southern Wisconsin, we have chickens, pot bellied pigs, cats and of course, our Portuguese Water Dogs!

We chose the Shooting Star logo because we live out in the country and love having bonfires at night, watching the amazing sky with all of it's shooting stars. The dog in the logo is the silhouette of our beloved Violet.

I read once in the breed description that they are "resistant to fatigue".  Yes, a breed that does not get tired!  Luckily we are active with our dogs, and we have about 3.5 acres that are fenced in for the dog to run around in each day - Their own private dog park!  Each dog is different, but I think our dogs give us the best of both worlds. They are not "hyper", but they are energetic. They are fun, playful and super smart. They are amazing with our kids, are super snuggly and sweet - and always up for an adventure!

In addition to being loving companions, I also enjoy training and showing my dogs.  We compete in Conformation, Tracking, Obedience and Rally. Our dogs are therapy dogs, visiting nursing homes and schools on a regular basis.
